Baby Malayan sun bear in the care of a wildlife breeding centre

A 4-month-old Malayan sun bear, which was found in a mountainous village in the Hua Hin district of Prachuap Khiri Khan on Friday, is now in the care of officials at the Huai Sai wildlife breeding centre in Cha-am district of Phetchaburi province.

Surasak Anumethangkoon, head of the breeding centre, said that the baby bear is in good health and drinks 75-100ml milk four times a day.

Since the centre does not have a large enough cage for the bear, he said he might have to build a new one and have it sent to another breeding centre which has suitable facilities.

He also said that he is not sure whether the bear lost its mother or it was caught and raised illegally.

He said anyone interested donating goat’s milk for the bear iswelcome to contact the Huai Sai wildlife breeding centre.
