A total of 207 people of four nationalities were deported from Myawaddy border township to Mae Sot district of Tak province today, ahead of their repatriations.
Officials from the Philippine, Cambodian, Malaysian and Nepalese embassies in Bangkok travelled to Myawaddy township to receive their citizens, after they had been rescued from scam centres by Karen troops of the Border Guard Force.
Those rescued include 176 Philippine nationals, 24 Malaysians, three Cambodians and four Nepalese, who crossed the border at the Second Thai-Myanmar Friendship Bridge and have been screened by Thai immigration officials.
The Philippine nationals then boarded five buses for the journey to Suvarnabhumi airport in Bangkok, while the 23 Malaysians, including one woman, will travel for two days to Malaysia by bus, via the border checkpoint in Sadao district of Songkhla.
The three Cambodians will travel by minibus back to Cambodia via the crossing in Aranyaprathet district of Sa Kaeo province.
The four Nepalese will spend a night at a shelter in the territorial defence garrison in Mae Sot and will then travel in an embassy vehicle to Suvarnabhumi airport tomorrow, for a flight back to Nepal.
More than 8,000 people of 28 nationalities, who used to work in scam centres in Myanmar, have been repatriated through Thailand since February.
