Firefighters are trying to control wildfires in Khao Kho National Park in Phetchabun province today. So far, about 1.6 hectares of forest have been destroyed and the fires are still raging.
Suphamit Suphamongkhon, chief of the forest fire control station at Khao Kho, said today that about 10 firefighters have been deployed to control fires in the forest community in Nam Khun sub-district, which has already spread into the national park.
Meanwhile, in Nakhon Ratchasima, Naruephon Tipmontha, chief of prevention and control of wildfires of the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation, said today that he expects wildfires in Khao Siad-Ah national forest reserves and in the and Khao Ang Hin forests in Pak Chong district to be brought under control today.
He reported that drones have been used to detect hotspots, adding that about 272 hectares of forest have been destroyed so far.
He also said that village heads have been instructed to warn people not to light fires in forests again.
