Heavy flooding of rail tracks in Nakhon Si Thammarat is disrupting train movements between Bangkok and the southernmost provinces, forcing the State Railway of Thailand to adjust its south-bound train services.
The SRT changes to five train services bound for and from Nakhon Si Thammarat and further south today.
· Local train 451 from Nakhon Si Thammarat to Su-ngai Kolok is suspended.
· Local train 452 from Su-ngai Kolok to Nakhon Si Thammarat is changed to Su-ngai Kolok to Hat Yai.
· Express train 85/86 from Bangkok to and from Nakhon Si Thammarat is changed to Bangkok to Thung Song.
· Local train 455 from Nakhon Si Thammarat to Yala is changed to Khao Chum Thong to Yala.
· Local train 456 from Yala to Nakhon Si Thammarat is changed to Hat Yai to Khao Chum Thong.
Passengers who have made advance bookings on these train services can request a refund if they want to cancel their trips.
Though the airport in the province remains open, some sections of the road on approach to the airport are flooded, but still passable to trucks. Seven roads in the province are, however, closed to traffic due to mud slides and damage to bridges.
Cars travelling to the airport in the province are having to stop at a service station and their passengers need to ride on military trucks providing free shuttles between the service station and the airport. Passengers have been advised to travel to the airport several hours before their scheduled departure time.
Mobile generators have been placed on standby, in case the main power supply to the airport is disrupted.
Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra is due to visit Nakhon Si Thammarat this afternoon to witness the flood situation for herself.
