A British tourist was safely rescued after he was seen sitting on the guard rail of a flyover near Suvarnabhumi airport.
The incident took place at about 8pm last Friday night, when Suvarnabhumi airport received was informed that man of western appearance was perched on the guard rail of a flyover and that he might be about to commit suicide by jumping onto the road below.
A team of tourist police and airport security guards rushed to the scene. Upon arrival, they found a Thai woman, whose identity was not disclosed, already there, trying to talk to the man and calm him down.
According to Pol Col Chakrapong Nutpadung, the police superintendent attached to Suvarnabhumi airport, the police officers quickly hatched a plan to rescue the foreigner, who appeared to be in some distress.
The flyover was closed to traffic, as a police patrol car slowly approached the man. Then a police officer jumped from the moving car, grabbed the man and pulled him off the guard rail to safety.
From an examination of the man’s passport, he was identified as a British citizen named Bradley Arron Archambie [sic], who is 30 years old. He was taken to the airport police station for questioning, but he was unable to communicate coherently.
Police tried to contact the British Embassy, but the embassy was closed .They will try again today.
