APEC-CEO Summit to consider private sector report Thursday and Friday

A report to APEC economic leaders, prepared by the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC), will be tabled for discussion at the APEC-CEO Summit, scheduled for today (Thursday) and tomorrow.

According to Kriengkrai Thiennukul, head of ABAC, the private sectors of the 22 economies in the Asia and Pacific regions have compiled a report covering five main issues and 69 sub-issues, highlighting the urgent issues for APEC leaders.

He said that urgent issues concern inflation, the energy crisis, food shortages and climate change, adding that the report was made against the backdrop of global conflicts and economic connectivity, which pose numerous challenges.

Kriengkrai said that the private sector has emphasised speedy and sustainable economic recovery through the economic integration of the region, the removal of obstacles to the expansion of trade and investment in the region, the development of digitization and access to funding by small and medium-sized enterprises.

On October 11th, ABAC presented the 2022 ABAC report to APEC economic leaders to Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha.

ABAC has held four meetings this year, with the latest being held ahead of the APEC Summit this week, to prepare for the APEC Leaders’ Dialogue with ABAC.
