Another new South Korean TV series a hit in Thailand

“King the Land” is the latest series from South Korea which has become the talk of town in Thailand, and not because of the usual good-looking stars.

It is because the tenth episode, broadcast on the night of July 16, depicted the stars vacationing in Thailand and the production team chose many well-known tourist spots as filming locations.

The series has been praised by Thai viewers on most social media platforms. “At first, I thought the episode was a promotion by the Tourism Authority of Thailand,” a Facebook user wrote. Scores of people shared this comment and many morning news shows reported on the series.

The production team came to Thailand at the end of January and spent more than a month shooting the series.

The actors in the series practised the Thai language, the famous Wai and talked about Thai people’s generosity. The series also informed the audience about Thai food and even about Thai-style roadside lottery stalls, and included Thai boxing, tuk-tuks and floating markets.

The stars toured Bangkok by tuk-tuk and visited Sanam Luang, Bangkok city pillar shrine, the Giant Swing, Suthat Thepwararam Temple and the Victory Monument.

The show also visited Ong Ang Canal walking street and depicted Loha Prasart, or the metal castle, in Ratchanadda Temple at night.

The stars took a boat trip along the Chao Phaya River, passing the Grand Palace and other popular tourist spots.
