Thailand reported yet another record high COVID-19 infections today (Friday) with 24,932 new official COVID-19 infections and 41 more deaths, following yesterday’s high of 23,557 cases, the highest level since the pandemic began in 2020, bringing total infections this year to 595,847.

Currently, 190,110 patients are receiving treatment

The Disease Control Department also said that 22,509 people had tested positive in the past 24 hours using rapid antigen tests, and they are awaiting RT-PCR confirmation. The combined number of positive RT-PCR and antigen test results today is 47,441.

Meanwhile, the National Health Security Office (NHSO), Krung Thai Bank and the Government Pharmaceutical Organization will be providing free rapid antigen test kits to people considered to be at risk, through 2,000 pharmacies and clinics under the NHSO from March 1st.

An online evaluation, via the “Pao Tang” app, will be used to determine whether the individual is at risk of infection. If they are, they can get antigen test kits at those locations. Those without the app or a smartphone must present their ID cards.

This time, two antigen kits will be available per person. They can request two other kit after 10 days.
