95 new COVID-19 infections recorded in Thailand on Tuesday
Thailand recorded 95 new COVID-19 cases and 85 new recoveries on Tuesday, with Samut Sakhon province still on top of the list, recording 54 new infections, according to CCSA assistant spokesperson Dr. Panprapha Yongtrakul.
Of the new cases, all but two were locally acquired. Besides the new cases in Samut Sakhon, there are 28 new cases in Pathum Thani, 3 in Nonthaburi, 2 each in Bangkok, Tak and Ang Thong and 1 each in Nakhon Pathom and Ayutthaya.
Cumulative infections since, December 15th, are 21,362, including 940 cases among arrivals from abroad and the rest being locally-acquired infections.
Total infections since early last year, when COVID-19 first broke out, are 25,599, with 24,446 recoveries. 1,070 others are still being treated in hospitals and death toll stands at 83.
Meanwhile, Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said today that Thailand’s Food and Drug Administration registered the Chinese-made COVID-19 vaccine, Sinovac, in its approved drugs list on Monday, two days ahead of the arrival of the first shipment of 200,000 doses in Thailand on Wednesday.
Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha will be at Suvarnabhumi international airport tomorrow to preside over the official ceremony to receive the vaccines.
