7-month old girl among five new COVID-19 cases recorded in Thailand today

Thailand today recorded five new COVID-19 cases, including a seven-month old Indian girl, among arrivals from abroad in state quarantine.

According to the CCSA, the child, her parents and another Indian businessman, aged 62, arrived in Thailand from India on the same flight on September 16th and entered alternative state quarantine in Bangkok. All asymptomatic, they tested positive for coronavirus on September 19th.

The fifth case is a 44-year old Thai domestic worker in Switzerland. She arrived in Thailand on September 16th and entered state quarantine in Chon Buri on the same day. She tested positive for the virus on September 19th, but exhibited no symptoms.

Cumulative infections in Thailand, to date, are 3,511, with 3,343 recoveries. The death toll remains 59.

So far, 78,040 Thais and foreigners arriving from abroad have entered state quarantine and 573 of them have been found to be infected by the virus.

Globally, cumulative infections so far are 31,480,517 and, of these, 969,290 have died and 23,109,592 have recovered. The US is still in the top spot with 7,046,216 cases and 204,506 deaths. India ranks second, with 5,567,126 confirmed cases and 88,989 deaths.
