Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngarm tonight (Wednesday) presided over the opening of entertainment activities being held at Sanam Luang in Bangkok as part of the Coronation celebrations.

The highlights of the 7-day entertainment extravaganza are Khon mask dance performances, involving hundreds of elaborately-attired performers acting out episodes from the Ramayana epic, and a light and sound display covering an area of 20,000 square metres.

The celebrations also feature performances from 10 other countries and regions throughout the country.

All the shows are free of charge and members of the public, as well as touris

ts, are invited to attend.

Entertainment activities on smaller scales are also being held in every province.

The Coronation Ceremony took place between May 4th and 6th this year in Bangkok.
