A four-month-old Myanmar baby is among the 149 COVID-19 fatalities reported today 9 (Monday), 26 of whom also died from the virus at home, according to the Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA).

19,603 new COVID-19 cases were also recorded in Thailand in the past 24 hours – 19,290 of which were locally acquired and 313 are among prisoners. Cumulative infections, since April 1^st, are 747,245, while cumulative recoveries are 527,908. The death toll is 6,259.

19,819 patients have recovered in the past 24 hours and 214,421 are undergoing treatment, including 5,218 severe cases, of whom 1,084 are on ventilators.

97 (65%) fatalities reported today were over 60, while 29 (19.4%) were afflicted with underlying diseases. 22 (14.7%) of those who died were free from underlying diseases.

CCSA Assistant Spokeswoman Dr. Apisamai Srirangsan said that over 30,000 children have been infected to date and 9 have died, 8 of whom were afflicted with underlying diseases.

In cases where elderly people and children live together, she said the Disease Controls Department recommends that they should be separated in different rooms. If that is not possible, there should be a partition to separate them and their personnel effects and common contact points in the house must be sanitized regularly.

Of the 2,417 fatalities recorded between July 18^th and August 7^th, the CCSA said that 838 were people over 70 who had not been inoculated, 149 had received their first vaccine jab fewer than two weeks prior to death and 82 had received their first jabs more than two weeks before.  13 were fully inoculated, accounting for 0.5% of the fatalities.

Thailand has administered 20.6 million vaccine doses to date, accounting for almost 16 million first doses, 4.46 million second doses, and 221,565 third booster shots.
