2nd consignment of cadmium slag moved from Samut Sakhon to Tak

The second shipment of about 250 tonnes of cadmium slag was transported from a warehouse of the J & B Metal in Muang district of Samut Sakhon province to Tak province today.

Eight trailer trucks, each carrying up to 18 bags, or 30 tonnes of cadmium slag were used, under close supervision of officials, led by Aditad Vasinonta, director-general of the Department of Primary Industries and Mines, and the Samut Sakhon industrial works chief, Putthikorn Wichaidit.

The first shipments of a similar amount of the slag were transported last week from warehouses in Bangkok and Samut Sakhon to Tak, but some of the bags fell to the ground upon arrival at the storage facility in Tak, when the chains securing them broke.

Since last year, about 13,000 tonnes of cadmium slag had been illegally moved, over the course of several months, from the warehouse of the Bound and Beyond Plc in Tak to Samut Sakhon and Bangkok.
