Thailand recorded 2,310 new COVID-19 cases and 43 more deaths today (Thursday), as 3,035 people recover from their infections.

CCSA Assistant Spokesperson Dr. Apisamai Srirangsan said today that infections in Bangkok and its suburbs remain high and new clusters of infections have been found, including over 200 cases at a poultry processing plant in Pathum Thani, 28 cases at Ban Thung fresh market in Si Racha district of Chon Buri, 14 cases at a medical equipment production plant in Ayutthaya, 36 cases at a noodle factory in Ban Pong district of Ratchaburi and 13 cases at a fresh market in front of Takhun Temple in Surat Thani’s Muang district.

In Bangkok, 788 cases were logged today, 308 in Pathum Yhani, 209 in Samut Prakan, 132 in Nonthaburi, 94 in Prachuap Khiri Khan, 89 in Samut Sakhon, 81 cases in Chon Buri, 43 cases each in Ayutthaya and Ratchaburi and 42 cases in Yala province.

Of the 43 deaths today, 31 are men and 12 women, aged between 27 and 91.  Bangkok had 27 fatalities, 5 in Samut Prakan, 4 in Nakhon Pathom, 2 in Nakhon Sawan and 1 each in Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Songkhla, Kanchanaburi and Sa Kaeo.

Cumulative infections, since April 1^st, have reached 158,675. 111,861 people have recovered and the total death toll in the same period is 1,281.

46,876 people are being treated in general and field hospitals, including 359 cases who are on ventilators.

Meanwhile, 289 out of 379 markets inspected by city officials have met the health standard requirements, set by the city’s administration.

Dr. Apisamai said that most of the markets which failed the safety standard tests did so because they were not observing social distancing, had too many exits and no body temperature checks.

She urged market owners to place more importance on meeting “ThaiStop Covid Plus” guidelines, imposed by the Health Department, and advised the public to monitor conditions in markets, to keep pressure on their owners to make improvements.
