1 million more Sinovac doses to arrive in Thailand this Thursday

Permanent Secretary of Thailand’s Public Health Ministry, Dr. Kiattiphum Wongrajit, said today (Tuesday) that this Thursday, 1 million more doses of Sinovac will be imported into Thailand, while there will be more AstraZeneca vaccines coming next Monday (June 14th), but the exact number of doses is yet to be confirmed.
Dr. Kiattiphum also said that 750,000 doses of Sinovac vaccine have been distributed today, as agreed with the Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA), and there are 500,000 more doses of Sinovac waiting to be approved.
Meanwhile, the Director-General of the Disease Control Department, Dr. Opart Karnkawinpong, advised that both Sinovac and AstraZeneca can be used in people aged 18 and older. He added that there can be 3 months between doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine, while Sinovac still requires the doses to be 2 weeks apart.
Dr. Opart said that Thailand plans to distribute 3.5 million doses of vaccines across the country in the first two weeks.
Six million doses of Sinovac vaccine have been delivered from China to Thailand to date. The Thai government said it is seeking 8 million more.
