A segment of an overpass under construction collapsed on Monday evening in Lat Krabang district, killing at least two and injuring 13 others.

As of 7.48pm, JS100 traffic radio station reported that one is still missing.

Chatchaya Kamjan, Lat Krabang district, said one was killed when the segment collapsed and he identified the victim as an engineer supervising the construction.

However National Urban Search and Rescue or USAR inspected the area and found the second victim.

Chatchaya said all the traffic leading to the area of accident was closed, commuters are suggested to avoid the area. Electricity in the area was cut and expected to resume by midnight.

Five of the injured were sent to Jularat Hospital while eight others to people were sent to Lat Krabang Hospital.

The segment that collapsed is part of Onnuch-Lat Krabang elevated road project scheduled to finish next year. Bangkok Metropolitan signed the contract with a joint venture of Tharawan Construction Ltd and Napa Construction Co, Ltd in February 2021.
